GenPride, Seattle and King County's resource for LGBTQIA2S+ aging is hiring a full-time, exempt Program Manager.


 

GenPride's Program Manager collaborates widely with LGBTQIA2S+ older adults, volunteers, community partners, and GenPride staff to develop, implement and evaluate programs for LGBTQIA2S/rainbow elders at the GenPride Center and throughout Seattle and King County. The Program Manager is responsible for maintaining a full events calendar reflecting GenPride's commitment to equity, belonging, liberation, and our communities' diverse needs and experiences.


 

GenPride's Program Manager cultivates a team of capable volunteers who will lead/facilitate or assist with most programs offered. The Program Manager will recruit, welcome, train, and coordinate a diverse group of volunteers and work to ensure that everyone feels valued and appreciated.


 

Additionally, you'll collaborate with others to organize events that increase awareness and attract new volunteers and participants. As part of this role, you'll collect data, prepare reports, and meet our grant commitments.

ABOUT GENPRIDE


 

GenPride is the premier nonprofit organization serving the LGBTQIA2S+ elder community in Seattle and King County. GenPride advocates for the unique needs of older LGBTQIA2S+ adults and offers innovative programs and services that promote well-being, prevent social isolation, and cultivate belonging, justice, and liberation.


 

In the heart of Capitol Hill in Seattle, GenPride is on the cusp of opening Pride Place, the first affordable housing built for LGBTQIA2S+ and allied older adults in collaboration with Community Roots Housing. The GenPride Center will be located on the ground floor of Pride Place to provide culturally relevant health and support services and programs to enhance the quality of life. We envision Pride Place as a fabulous place for LGBTQIA2S+ older adults to gather.


 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


 

GenPride's Program Manager will develop, implement, and evaluate equitable, inclusive, and accessible program activities and special events at the GenPride Center and throughout King County designed explicitly for LGBTQIA2S+ elders. This position will involve working in an active community center setting with frequent and regular interruptions.


 

The Program Manager will recruit, develop, and coordinate diverse volunteers with well-matched skills for each position and ensure that volunteers feel appreciated and valued. You'll be responsible for monitoring, supporting, motivating, celebrating, and accrediting our volunteers and their work and organizing volunteer appreciation events and recognition to show our gratitude for their dedication and hard work. You'll also regularly review and update the volunteer onboarding process, including orientation, training, and ongoing support, so that volunteers have the awareness and skills to cultivate equity, belonging, justice, and liberation in their efforts.


 

Additionally, you'll connect with other senior centers and community organizations to offer collaborative programs for rainbow elders. You'll team up with the community to create fun spaces and activities led by volunteer instructors and host events that attract and recruit new volunteers and clients, focusing on intersectional LGBTQIA2S+ communities. You'll also raise public awareness of our center's programs through media, community groups, and our participants and make public and private presentations to increase awareness of LGBTQIA2S+ elders and GenPride.


 

The Program Manager ensures that participants and volunteers follow all GenPride and grant-funded requirements and procedures and that all client information is securely tracked and reports submitted in line with grant commitments. The Program Manager also manages the community dining program.


 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS


 

  • Knowledge of, and a strong desire to continue learning about, the needs of LGBTQIA2S+ elders who are most impacted by structural inequities
  • A deep commitment to equity and social justice.
  • Ability to authentically connect with GenPride's mission and aspirations through your personal experiences
  • Experienced understanding of fostering a safe and welcoming environment in a high-volume setting for a broad spectrum of people.
  • The ability to cultivate relationships and work effectively with a broad spectrum of people, including building quick credibility and ongoing trust with coworkers, partners, volunteers, and elders.
  • At least three years of experience coordinating and managing projects in a professional setting with many engaged and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to lead event coordination efforts, including the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and remain focused on details
  • Ability to manage and integrate program requirements and GenPride's values and mission.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment with a willingness to communicate and welcome ideas and suggestions
  • Ability to take and provide direction and feedback with care and adapt quickly to evolving priorities.
  • An understanding of the foundational role that racism, ableism, sexism, ageism, homo and transphobia, and other forms of bias and oppression play in perpetuating inequity
  • Experience with various equity, justice, and power-building strategies, including the ability to integrate these strategies into this role.
  • Demonstrated capacity for self-reflection, humility, and curiosity, and skilled in repairing professional relationships.
  • Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills combined with the ability to listen deeply and authentically
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) and Adobe Suite, and willingness to adapt to new technologies

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 2 years experience working with older adults who are most impacted by structural inequities
  • A minimum of 2 years experience fostering a safe and welcoming environment in a diverse, high-volume setting.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience coordinating volunteer programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (such as social work, gerontology, or nonprofit management) is preferred, but equivalent experience may also be considered.
  • Familiarity with relevant software tools and platforms for program management, data collection, and volunteer management.
  • Fluency in one or more languages other than English is desired.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Complete COVID vaccination is required. Physical skills and ability to perform work that requires sitting, able to move around the center, stooping, bending, and lifting to 25 pounds. Able to work in a community center setting with frequent and regular interruptions, including some early morning, evening, and weekend hours,


 

COMPENSATION

Salary: $67,000 - $73,000
