Position: Assistant Director, Employee Experience and Culture

Location: Nationwide/Remote

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: The estimated salary range for this position is $78,600 - $85,000. This midpoint for the salary grade is $102,000. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to relevant experience.


 

Position Description:

 

UNICEF USA is seeking an Assistant Director, Employee Engagement and Culture, to be responsible for creating an employee experience which improves culture and engagement across the organization. Reporting to the Vice President, Employee Engagement and Development, this role will ensure all People and Culture programs align with UUSA values and objectives while serving as a thought partner to the organization in delivering greater engagement and a values-driven culture. This is a collaborative role that will work cross-functionally with department and division group leadership, specifically in partnership with the Executive Office.

 

 

Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):

 

Development and implementation of an employee engagement strategy in support of UUSA staff

· Modify, build and maintain an engagement strategy that is aligned to UUSA’s values which enhances culture, motivates performance, supports the attraction and retention of high performing talent, and extends across the employee lifecycle

· In partnership with the Vice President of Diversity, Racial Equity and Belonging and the Chief People Officer, provide management of engagement survey process and help to develop the strategy and execution of actions items identified in the surveys.

· Partner with the Assistant Director, Benefits, with UUSA’s wellness initiatives and activities.

· Support the integration of new hires by partnering with the Professional Learning and Leadership Development team on at New Hire Orientation and New Hire Open Forums

· Use employee research and data to identify and make recommendations for how to best keep our employees engaged, productive, and effective in a constantly changing environment

Development and implementation of Employee Recognition Strategy

· Working with the People and Culture team, establish employee recognition programs and strategies to acknowledge remarkable contributions and milestones by employees.

  • Review, evaluate and make recommendations for divisional recognition programs.
  • Lead on length of service activities such as employee service awards for milestones, anniversary emails for staff.

Management of Performance Management process and platform

· In partnership with the Vice President, Employee Engagement and Development and Chief People Officer, direct the full lifecycle of the annual performance management process, including management of the performance platform, timelines, and staff communications.

· Offer support to people managers for 3-month, mid-year and end of year performance reviews, including the creation of development plans for their direct reports.


 

Lead on Future of Work activities for UUSA staff

· In conjunction with the Executive Office, strategize and implement UUSA-wide intentional engagement efforts and events.

· Working with the Executive Office and other members of the People and Culture Team, lead the Intentional Engagement Committee comprised of volunteer staff members.

· Promote and support cross country engagement to enhance and reflect organization culture and enhance social and professional engagement

· Provide support for future of work initiatives across UUSA including engagement, workflow, and policy in coordination with the Executive Office, Administration and Legal and Compliance.

· Provide support for organization-wide meetings, including the All-Staff meetings, Town Halls, the Staff Retreat, Let’s Talk Series, etc.

· Participate in the Internal Communications Committee to support adoption of our communications platforms such as Slack, Outlook, etc.

 

All other duties, as assigned by the Vice President, Employee Engagement and Development.


 

 

Qualifications:

 

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required

· 6+ years’ relevant experience, preferably in an HR Generalist/Business Partner role that includes performance and change management, and employee communications.

· Problem solving skills, critical thinking and influencing skills required.

· The ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively with minimal supervision is essential.

· Data and Technology savvy: able to evaluate new ways to leverage technology to improve processes, engage staff, and model data to inform decision making. Ability to interpret, synthesize and present both qualitative and quantitative engagement data.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Intermediate level, or higher Excel skills

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and excellent customer service skills are a must!

· Excellent time management skills demonstrating the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously

· Ability to travel domestically, if based remotely
