Director, Program Operations

Location: Remote or Hybrid

Position Summary:

The Manager, Military Programs will work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams, providing expertise related to military and veteran program planning; produce high-quality educational content; assist in process and continuous improvement activities, along with improving program delivery to the National and Chapter partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspects of the Military portfolio, including programs developed for Veterans.
  • Engages chapter volunteers and staff that are active military or veteran populations to form a learning collaborative for ongoing feedback into program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Identifies program gaps and develop concepts for new program priorities.
  • Develops and manages all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, drafting content, communications, training, and resource development.
  • Collaborates with Internal and external program partners to develop effective, clear, and easy to understand messages for a variety of audiences, ensure that messaging is research-based and evidence-informed.
  • Provides ongoing content review and updates, including collaborating with communications on developing promotional materials for a variety of media outlets, following AFSP requirements and guidelines.
  • Partners with the impact measurement team to evaluate programs and seek opportunities to respond to findings.
  • Collaborates with key organizational partners in the development and implementation stages of programing. Successful program delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one or more programs simultaneously.
  • Participates in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.
  • Prepares detailed program plans and communicating progress to partners, including status reports, milestones, deliverable, and opportunities.
  • Demonstrates a functional acumen to support how solutions will address organizational goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices.
  • Participates and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders.
  • Manages program budgets, as necessary.
  • Coordinates administrative and logistical support for program initiatives (schedules, calls, data collection, documentation preparation).
  • Contributes to internal and external dialogue that advances our approach to delivering programs.

 


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; veteran or miliary experience highly preferred.
  • 2+ years relevant professional experience (e.g., program management, program planning and development, association, community-based work).
  • Must be able to effectively lead teams and take initiative.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various internal and external constituents.
  • Responsive to feedback and solution focused.
  • Strong problem-solving mentality and approach to work.

  • Ability to build credibility as a trusted adviser to colleagues, partners, and stakeholders who hold diverse perspectives.

Salary and Benefits:

$68,000 to $74,000
22 PTO (vacation, sick, wellness and personal days) your first year of employment (5 additional days 2nd year)

10% employer retirement contribution after 2 years of employment
