Title: President/CEO
Reports to: Board of Directors

Position Description:
The Clinton County Catalyst President/CEO is charged with leading implementation of the organization’s strategic plan with a focus on business, workforce and real estate development activities. The primary focus of this position will involve running the day to day operations for the organization and will include key initiatives such as collaborating with existing businesses to grow and retain partnerships, expanding membership and investors within the four corners of Clinton county, serving as a link between businesses and users and responding to inquiries from prospective businesses looking to locate to the Clinton County Area. An effective candidate for this position will have previous experience in Economic Development work, possess a strong financial and analytical background and have a proven track record of networking and developing relationships to increase membership and community engagement.

Key Role Responsibilities:
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key strategic partners that provide business development opportunities (including Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center, M-21 Ag Corridor, and Lansing Economic Area Partnership)
  • Provide intake on new business leads, identifying appropriate connections/resources to assist in their site location decision-making
  • Communicate with leadership at all key contributory employers in the county on a regular basis and provide appropriate connections/resources to meet their operational needs
  • Develop comprehensive talent solutions for local businesses in conjunction with strategic partners (workforce development, education, media and marketing)
  • Oversee implementation of increased childcare access and affordability efforts, including the Tri-Share initiative
  • Collaborate with the Clinton County Regional Education Service District (RESD) leadership (including the shared business & community liaison position) to develop K-12 education/business partnerships (including new vocational training millage and center)
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with builders and developers who can address residential, commercial and industrial building needs in Clinton County
  • Increase broadband access availability and affordability in the county in collaboration with local telecommunications providers and local municipalities
  • Develop and oversee an annual budget as approved by the board of directors, use of operating reserves and annual audit
  • Maintain strong relationships and communications with the CCC board of directors and executive committee
  • Lead an investor relations program focused on generating new members and maintaining/increasing existing member contributions
  • Appropriate communications of organization activities (annual report, scorecard, investor meetings, emails, social media, speaking engagements, etc.)
  • Cultivate and maintain professional development relationships (Michigan Economic Developers Association and International Economic Development Council) with attendance at events and participation in key initiatives like the Economic Development Research Partners (EDRP) and Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO)

Role Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in the Economic Development Sector
  • Financial and Analytical skills to perform budgeting, accounting, banking, etc.
  • Previous exposure to local governing bodies
  • Exceptional networking and relationship building skills to liaise with community members, businesses, investors and similar communities of interest
  • Experience execution Contracts/Agreements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
