Job Description


Crisis Intervention Specialist

Hours: 40 hours per week. Clinic hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; Wednesday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Pay Rate: $35.10 per hour

Education: Master’s degree in a mental health related field such as Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling required

Licensure: Licensed or licensed-eligible with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or Waivered Psychologist required



As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, you will:

  • Lead clinician for any client crisis. This may include conducting risk assessment, calling emergency responders, meeting emergency responders to provide them with the pertinent information and carrying out necessary paperwork (Tarasoff paperwork requirements, incident report requirements, etc).
  • Conducts initial behavioral health assessment of new clients and/or returning clients if needed. Performs collateral interviews as indicated.
  • Works closely with various providers in the region or system to facilitate access to services for those identified as the target population to be served.
  • Assists the client in developing a comprehensive, individualized crisis plan.
  • As needed conducts initial screenings and walk-in services, as requested by direct supervisors. Bills and documents all services provided and maintains documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures in a timely manner.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of two years of experience or equivalent training
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred, but not required
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office
  • Proof of COVID vaccination required, unless legally exempt
  • Able to pass criminal/background clearance

Areta Crowell Wellness and Recovery Center is an adult outpatient program which provides a variety of intervention services to individuals in crisis. We serve individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse disorders.



Services include initial psychosocial assessments, psychiatric and medication evaluations, ongoing medication support services, limited individual and group counseling, supported housing, care coordination, case management, and linking clients with additional community-based supports.
