mSENIOR DIRECTOR – ALUMNI PROGRAMS

This is a civilian position that works for a 501(c)3 non-profit that supports the Air Force Academy. This position requires graduation from the United States Air Force Academy.

The United States Air Force Academy Association of Graduates (“AOG”) and the Air Force Academy Foundation (“Foundation”) believe strongly that the United States Air Force Academy (“Academy”) is a vital national resource, upholding the invaluable mission of developing leaders of character for our Air Force, Space Force and nation. THE OVERVIEW

The Air Force Academy Association of Graduates (“AOG”) & Foundation (“Foundation”), in support of the U.S. Air Force Academy, seek an engaging, energetic, and detail-oriented United States Air Force Academy Graduate to serve as the Senior Director of Alumni and USAFA Programs (“Director”). This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Alumni Relations (“SVP”).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand, uphold, and promote the ethical standards and core values of the Academy, the AOG, and the Foundation.
  • Learn and understand how the AOG and the Foundation interact with the Academy and other Academy-related nonprofit organizations that support various areas of the Academy.
  • Lead graduate member and cadet-related programs including, but not limited to, reunions, Legacy Class program, Class Ring and Crest Program, and Cadet Milestone Programs (FirstieDeparture).
  • Oversee the alumni heritage and awards programs including Next-of-Kin support and WebGuy functions.
  • Evolve and manage the Young Alumni Program, ensuring collaboration with Alumni Engagement activity.
  • Manage all phases of the Legacy Program with the Academy and legacy class graduates.
  • Establish and maintain working agreements with the 10ABW for program support.
  • Provide leadership and development for Alumni Programs team members.
  • Monitor and track the alumni programs operational budget and provide monthly updates to the SVP
  • Coordinate with the other functional units across the AOG and Foundation to ensure that all areas are working in a cohesive environment towards the cohesive goals.
  • Keep abreast of Air Force, Academy and departmental priorities, programs, personalities, and events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree from the United States Air Force Academy is required.
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Office 365 program suite is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and any related insurances is required.
  • An ability to travel 10% of the time and availability for evening and weekend events.
  • An ability to pass a DBIDS Background check.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and lift the performance of others.
  • Use organizational skills to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Desire and drive to accomplish an aggressive and fast-paced mission.
  • Apply initiative, creativity, and sound judgment to appropriate situations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and with a diverse customer base.
  • Meet project deadlines, which includes working accurately and thoughtfully under pressure.
  • Possess a service-oriented mindset and be able to resolve customer complaints.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality along with superior customer service skills.
  • A willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues and with a diverse constituent base.
  • A proven ability to meet project deadlines and maintain productive professional relationships to include balancing long-term strategic goals with current priorities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • An advanced degree
  • At least five years of management or supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of non-profit or engagement in higher education
  • Experience with Project management tools
  • Working knowledge with Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM database

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $85,000. The Foundation offers a competitive benefits package including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, retirement and paid time off for all full-time employees.
