About us

MLIFE is a 501(c)3 faith-based nonprofit organization that supports children experiencing learning poverty to read and write, mentors NextGen leaders to innovate and thrive, and uplifts families furthest from an opportunity to meet their basic needs.

Under the administrative supervision of the Program Director, the Community Wellness Specialist is responsible for providing trauma-informed mental health treatment and support to program participants, ages 14-24, from the Tenderloin, the Bayview, and the Mission District.

This position requires demonstrating a commitment to MLIFE’s mission, vision, and values by providing participants with high-quality, culturally competent, social, emotional, and mental health support.


  • Develop a trauma-informed curriculum for our Healing Circle Group.
  • Facilitate Healing Circle Groups with the participants.
  • Provide individual trauma-informed therapy to participants.
  • Collaborate with the Enrichment Care Coordinators and service providers to provide culturally appropriate resources to participants.
  • Provide consultation to team members on trauma-informed practices for working with participants.


  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or social work.
  • Licensed MFT, LCSW, or LPCC
  • Passionate about providing services to families, children, and youths from disinvested neighborhoods and system-involved youths.
  • Knowledgeable about trauma-informed therapeutic interventions.
  • Knowledgeable about the history of racial oppression and economic disenfranchisement in the US and its impact on Black communities and other disinvested groups.
  • A willingness to explore personal biases and receive feedback from participants and team members.
  • Knowledge of child development.
  • Proficient in computer skills.

Special requirements:

  • Must pass criminal records clearance
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: From $175.00 per hour

Ability to Relocate:

Work Location: Hybrid remote in San Francisco, CA 94112
