The Mayerson JCC connects people so that they can live happier and fuller lives, creating a more vibrant Jewish community. The JCC helps to foster social connections between its members and guests alike, bringing people together through a wide variety of programs and events. With an expansive fitness center, highly regarded early childhood and senior centers, top arts and cultural events, and classes for every age, the JCC connects, enriches, and inspires over 27,000 visitors per month. The JCC welcomes everyone, regardless of race, religion, or ability.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Jewish Life and Learning will bring innovation and creativity to how Judaism is experienced at Mayerson JCC and throughout the community. This person will report to the Chief Program Officer and work in partnership with the Directors of Programming, Early Childhood School and 60 & Better to re-imagine, develop, and strengthen Jewish programs and opportunities, including strategy, content, and atmosphere. These programs include a variety of activities with overt Jewish content that bring Jewish and non-Jewish participants together to fulfill the J's mission to connect people so that they can live happier and fuller lives, creating a more vibrant Jewish community. Additionally, this individual will create positive exposure to Jewish values and traditions for J members and the broader community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Become immersed in the Cincinnati Jewish Community to assess needs and share opportunities.
  • Build, plan and bring to fruition strategic initiatives to engage the Jewish community in Cincinnati.
  • Collaborate with Jewish organizations and institutions locally and nationally to build unity and synergy around Jewish life programs and events.
  • Create Jewish programs inside and outside of Mayerson JCC.
  • Collaborate with partners to present innovative JCC-wide programming around major Jewish holidays.
  • Work with staff and lay leaders to develop content and determine partners for events both on and off campus.
  • Lead Jewish Education initiatives (including, but not limited, to those for our Camp at the J and JCC Early Childhood School).
  • Be a Jewish educator to the JCC and community members, including JCC board and staff.
  • Directly oversee Jewish Educator in the JCC Early Childhood School
  • Work closely with Director of the Early Childhood School to develop a Jewish education curriculum for children in the ECS.
  • Develop programs that can meet people where they are Jewishly and take them to the next step in their Jewish journey.
  • Help to ensure an impactful Jewish presence inside the JCC.
  • Work closely with the Community Shlichim to support our Israeli community and Jewish engagement with matters related to Israel.
  • Plan, develop and implement Israel cultural programs for youth and adults in collaboration with Jewish Federation Israel Department including, but not limited to Yom Haatzmaut and Yom Hazikaron.
  • Work with Fundraising team to build support for programs and efforts including Grant Writing and Foundation interaction. Other related duties as required or directed.

 


Minimum Qualifications:

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Jewish Education; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience creating, designing, and developing innovative programming including implementation and growth.
  • Deep Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions
  • Demonstrated success as a Jewish educator for different demographics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, lay leaders and program participants.
  • Positive, dynamic, contagious love for Jewish Life, community builder.
  • Demonstrated ability to work comfortably with all parts of the Jewish community.
  • Ability to work some weekend and evening hours and holiday-appropriate responsibilities on the Jewish holidays.

$80,000 - $85,000 annual salary based on experience
