Director of Facilities

OVERVIEW

The Director of Facilities is a new position that will assist the coordination of our 27 acres and developing facilities. This position is primarily Monday-Friday but requires some flexible availability that may include nights and weekends as the Gardens programming necessitates. This is a full-time, salaried position and a leadership position within the organization. The Gardens is in a period of growth and future plans include building a Creativity Center, Children’s Garden, Food Forest, as well as an extensive Master Plan for years to come! JOB DUTIES

NOTE: The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed in this job and are not limited to the following:

Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing/irrigation, and mechanical systems.

· Solicit proposals, negotiate, and oversee vendors that provide maintenance to our facilities.

· Oversee the Facilities budget and inventory.

· Leads Grounds/Facilities staff and collaborate with all departments on facility needs and strategic plan goals.

· Maintenance to existing buildings, sculptures, and equipment.

· Create systems for workflow and completion as well as maintenance schedules.

· Ensure that grounds and workspace is safe for staff and visitors.

· Manage multiple projects, including large-scale construction, and prioritize tasks effectively.

· Fulfill purchasing needs for department which will include some pickup/delivery in personal vehicle.

· Physically assist team in the completion of projects as needed.

· Have working knowledge of all policies and procedures; ensure daily tasks are completed in a timely manner and records are accurately maintained.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Proven experience in facility management or a similar role
  • Innovative mindset.
  • Collaborative colleague.
  • Proactively seek and share opportunities for the Gardens to grow and improve.
  • Positive attitude and good sense of humor.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft programs.
  • Flexibility of schedule to work shifts including some weekends and evenings.
  • Work independently with little supervision; be proactive, take initiative, and troubleshoot.
  • Familiarity with the outdoors and/or gardens preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and communications skills.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Flexibility and capability to adapt to changes in daily routine.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environment year-round.
  • Standing, walking, lifting, stooping, climbing ladders required.
  • Requires the ability to lift 30 pounds.

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
