William James College seeks an experienced and skilled leader who is driven by the opportunity to develop organizational best practices that effectively communicate and support the College’s mission and strategic goals. The Director of Talent, Equity, and Culture will advance the College’s strategic plans as they relate to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) best practices in faculty and staff recruitment, retention, training, and advancement. The Director of Talent, Equity, and Culture is a senior-level management position reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance and Operations.

 


Job Summary & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a cohesive strategy for realizing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) training and education objectives to ensure fair and equitable treatment of faculty, staff, and students; Serve as an advisor and a resource for institutional leaders, department chairs, staff, and faculty in the areas of DEIA.
  • Create and implement strategies and be accountable for recruiting candidates that reflect the College’s recruiting strategy ; develop strategies and best practices for improved recruitment and hiring practices for all employees
  • Responsible for all aspects of employee relations including supervisory consultations related to performance and professionalism, conduct, disciplinary issues, and termination; assist employees with workplace concerns; and manage employee engagement surveys
  • Serve as Title IX Coordinator for the College and maintain compliance with applicable laws.
  • Conduct investigations of bias incidents, discrimination and harassment complaints filed by faculty, staff, and students. Evaluate documentation, advise individuals and departments on appropriate action(s) to be taken, and provide mediation, as needed.
  • Manage on-boarding and off-boarding of all employees.
  • Provide resources and direction for college-wide employee development process, hiring, coaching, counseling, and career development initiatives.
  • Anticipate legal issues associated with recruitment, performance, and conduct matters.
  • Facilitate organizational development and employee training and learning; and devise effective strategies for evaluating and refining training goals and objectives.
  • Update/create personnel policies and procedures and keep the employee handbook up-to-date and compliant.

 


Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through education and 7-10 years’ professional related experience
  • Experienced mediator with well-developed conflict management and resolution skills
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Ability to balance sensitivity with efficiency, and attention to detail to the bigger picture
  • Experience guiding supervisors and managers in employee relations issues
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and presentation skills
  • A positive and collaborative attitude, a team player mentality, and a sense of humor
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with HRIS Systems, ADP experience is a plus

 


Minimum Qualifications:


 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of experience or master’s degree with 7 years of progressive human resource, preferably in higher education.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Title IX regulations, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other applicable laws.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and mediation methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships at all levels of the College.
  • Ability to promote a harassment free environment, educate others on the value of diversity, and build and cultivate a diverse workforce.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to model respectful behaviors for cultural differences.
