RCF Connects, also known as Richmond Community Foundation, a non-profit community organization that provides an array of community-based initiatives that drive transformative philanthropy in Contra Costa County seeks a strategic, visionary, and community-oriented leader to be a partner to its existing Chief Executive Officer (CEO). In partnership with the Board of Directors, this new Co-CEO will collaborate to ensure the relevancy of RCF Connects initiatives and programs to amplify voices and promote equity, thus enhancing community change and growth. This Co-CEO will be a strong internal leader, exemplifying the organization’s mission and able to develop and manage a progressive, fast- growing, efficient organization while ensuring the professional growth and safety of RCF’s dedicated staff. Our new C o-CEO will have the opportunity to build upon RCF Connects’ successes and directly shape the future landscape of Contra Costa County.

Our new Co-CEO will bring visionary leadership to our mission and sharp financial management and administrative acumen. We offer impactful initiatives, across diverse locations, with a current operating budget of $4.3 million and employ nearly 35 individuals. Working alongside our current CEO, Jim Becker, the new Co- CEO will oversee the evaluation and continued growth and evolution of community change while creating opportunities for greater integration and collaboration. They will also continue to refine organizational structures and processes to ensure that all areas are mission-aligned and equipped for success. This new leader must be a champion for equity, inclusivity, and belonging.

The Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors and partnering with our current President and CEO, this position will oversee the Finances, Day-to-Day Operations & Culture of RCF Connects, ensuring the achievement of the organization’s mission and vision, and accountability to its diverse constituents. The Co-CEO will forge an open and transparent relationship with the Board, working collaboratively to set a strong strategic direction and diversify its voice and membership, while ensuring regulatory compliance.

An inspiring leader, the Co-CEO will provide a compelling organizational vision that is clearly communicated and widely supported. Alongside the executive leadership team, they will evaluate current operations, develop standards and controls, and ensure measurable service goals, guided by data and best practices, with a focus on equity and community.

They will actively guide staff development and cultivate a talent pipeline for future leadership opportunities, improving operational efficiencies and ensuring organizational health. This leader will also assist in recruiting personnel and maintaining an open door for staff to address organizational goals or issues.

RCF Connects is seeking to deliver on its new strategic framework with a management team fostering a performance culture based on equity and diversity. The Co-CEO must deliver measurable, cost-effective results while tapping into the power of each team member. They will lead internal operations, assist in setting broad organizational goals, and develop appropriate policies and procedures.

The Co-CEO is a collaborative leader, developing values-based operational systems that strengthen RCF Connects’ capacity, focusing on community organizing, racial justice, education, solidarity, and leadership development. They possess the strategic thinking to deepen growth and sustainability, aligning operations with core principles.

Demonstrating effective planning, problem-solving, and conflict resolution, the Co-CEO navigates complex dynamics with clarity, integrity, and accountability. Leading with courage and humility, they ensure alignment with the organization's vision, values, and goals, collaborating closely with the President and CEO on key areas.

Ultimately, the Co-CEO leads in solidarity with the current leadership, ensuring commitment to RCF Connects’ mission and values through strategic collaboration and communication.

Experience and Qualifications

  • BIPOC, women, and other marginalized groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated track record and expertise in financial reporting, budget and revenue forecasting, and financial systems and staff management.
  • Optimal work experience and educational background to be considered for this position may include the following but not limited to:
  • At least 5 years of experience in a CEO, CFO, COO, Executive Director or similar role (no minimum educational credential), or
  • At least 10 years of Director- level experience in the non- profit or service sector, or
  • A relevant master’s degree plus 5 years of administrative or management level experience in the non-profit or service sector.
  • Substantial experience overseeing the development of consistent financial policies and practices, the development of the annual budget, and working closely with the Board of Directors, Co-CEO and key staff to establish budget goals that support the organization’s short-term and longer-term fiscal health.
  • Demonstrated understanding, experience, and commitment to working within the social, racial, educational, or environmental justice arenas.
  • Ability to lead, work, and build relationships in multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, and multi-class settings.
  • Effective writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Experience staffing boards and high-level decision-makers. This is an in-person position.
