Senior Manager, Workforce Development (Climate)
100% Remote within California, Must reside in California
 
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Workforce Development (Climate) to join FoundationCCC in its mission of benefitting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges—the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. Together, we are building stronger communities by getting students and colleges the resources they need to succeed and expanding pathways to economic and social mobility across California. WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Center for Climate Futures (CCF) at the Foundation for California Community Colleges helps the 116 colleges in the statewide network take advantage of their unique capacities to shape the state’s climate response. California Community Colleges have extensive physical and operational footprints, deep community ties, and essential roles in workforce development; these provide extraordinary potential for helping Californians build resilience to climate change. The Sr. Manager will help develop existing lines of work in the climate portfolio and expand the areas of focus to promising new fields. With the CCF team, the Sr. Manager will raise the profile of community colleges and their essential roles in climate action at the state and national levels. The Sr. Manager will contribute to securing new funding streams, building and managing the climate team, launching new initiatives, and carrying out climate- and energy-related projects at the CCF.
  • With CCF and Foundation leadership, shapes vision and strategy for climate work involving community colleges.
  • Represents CCF at conferences, public meetings, college events, and client interactions.
  • Creates content for projects, presentations, grant and contract proposals, and internal and external reporting.
  • Cultivates relationships internally and externally, and identifies and pursues appropriate business development opportunities.
  • Leads searches for new CCF hires to build a team with state and national leadership capacity.
  • Creates conditions, through project work and staff leadership, for CCF to maintain its role as a trusted, neutral convener across a broad range of climate-relevant economic sectors and community needs.

  • Ability to manage and coordinate the work of direct reports as well as staff from other Foundation workgroups.
  • Ability to identify and cultivate opportunities for business development with private industry, agencies, NGOs, and philanthropic groups and individuals.
  • Excellent project management and prioritization skills; dedication to delivering quality products on time with limited supervision.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences, in a variety of formats.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and clients with competing interests and needs.
  • Ability to cultivate the team’s reputation as a trusted and neutral convener.
  • Ability to understand multiple perspectives about climate and climate policy.
  • Capacity to take a systems approach to complex questions, including scientific and policy issues.
  • Capacity to support emerging opportunities for CCF in the climate space and implement effective strategy around those opportunities.

Budgeted Annual Salary Pay Range:
$95,000.00 - $135,000.00
 
Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.
