Job Title: Program Director/Facilitator
Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Pay: Hourly rate, based on experience
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: This job is located in Southern California (Twentynine Palms) on the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. Military installation access will be provided upon hire.

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Executive director, the Program Director is primarily responsible for directly supervising and overseeing the program leaders and programs focused on family and youth enrichment, emphasizing youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The program director will follow program schedules, locations, and overall implementation. This role also involves facilitating program classes as needed. Programs include Operation Hero, Operation Little Learner, Operation Wiggle Room, and Summer Camp. Duties include but are not limited to working closely with the Executive Director and Development/Finance Department, to ensure that adequate donated and sourced resources are available to meet program needs; maintaining regular contacts with the communities served and program partners; adjusting programming to address evolving needs; and working with the overall leadership team to ensure goals for the programs are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities are considered essential but do not represent all job functions that may be required to be performed by this position. Other comparable duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Evening and weekend work is required as determined by organizational needs or as assigned.
  • Participates in strategic planning, goal development, and assessment of program effectiveness.
  • Communicates and integrates all programs and their staffs, creating collaboration and quality service to member programs and the community
  • Work collaboratively interdepartmentally and with military and civilian organizations to provide high-quality programs/events that benefit military members and their families.
  • Ensures coordinator training to promote effective and efficient delivery of services.
  • Supervises all activities to ensure that the goals and objectives of each program are met.
  • Facilitate youth programs as needed while also managing other facilitators.
  • Supervise, train, and manage all direct reports in the Programs Department.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Development department regarding fundraising needs for programs and information provided for brochures, press releases, newsletters, and event coverage.
  • Provide website updates for any program changes
  • Represents ASYMCA Twentynine Palms to community groups and events through public relations and speaking engagements.
  • Assist Executive Director in the selection process of program staff.
  • Responsible for submittal of periodic reviews and evaluations of assigned staff to the immediate supervisor.
  • All hands in events. 29 Palms staff required to work as a team at events and this position would also be required.
  • Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings as scheduled.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Evening or weekend work as required.
  • Ensure the YMCA's core values (responsibility, respect, caring, and honesty) are incorporated in to the facilitation and curriculum of programming.

INTERACTION
This position may provide information to and interact with donors, potential donors, program participants, volunteers, partners, ASYMCA 29 Board and staff, and others from the community.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct and full-scope supervisory responsibilities for Youth Program Department.

EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE

Minimum: B.A./ B.S. degree from an accredited university or college in Social Service, Child Development, Education, Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or a comparable course of study preferred and three or more years of experience in a position requiring similar skill sets. Experience in military service programs, fundraising, sales, or management is highly desirable. Any combination of educational and work experience equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration for this position. At least three years of supervisory experience is required.

  • General knowledge of nonprofit organizational practices.
  • A professional demeanor with an aptitude for analytical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Responsible, well organized, and demonstrate initiative.
  • Strong proficiency in Windows, Excel, Microsoft Word, Publisher, Social Media.
  • Must be accurate and detail-oriented, possess strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and public speaking skills.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Standard office equipment and machines such as telephone, personal computer, multi-function copy machine, and 10-key calculator.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agency’s insurance carrier standards. Must maintain a valid DMV physical and CPR/ First Aid certification.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
  • Work in an office setting with occasional travel to community or base locations.
  • Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity, balance and climbing stairs frequently. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts, carries and balances objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers and supplies.
  • Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration and analytical thinking.
  • Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation office equipment and machines, and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace.
  • Must be able to hear, see including peripheral vision and distinction of colors, read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and origins.
