Wage Range:$130,000-$155,000, Exempt

Position Overview:

Reporting to the agencys CAO, the Human Resource Director serves as the lead HR professional for NARA NW and as a trusted resource to its executives and staff. With the approval of the CAO, the HR Director develops and implements NARA NWs human resources strategy. This position oversees all HR activities in support of the overall business objectives and strategic direction of the organization including employee relations, talent management, change management, organizational development, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, succession planning, recruitment and on-boarding, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance.

This key role understands and promotes that NARA NWs employees are a high priority and will provide leadership and guidance by articulating human resource plans, developments, and opportunities that are modeled to the culture, values and attributes of NARA NW, while collaborating with the executive management team and other relevant stakeholders. This position is critical in defining and articulating the culture as well as providing a well-defined, consistent and effective HR structure and resource to the organization.

 

What you will do:

  • Establishes and implements HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the agencys mission, vision and values.
  • Works to understand and promote Native culture and values and how they affect how NARA NW employees do their work.
  • Adheres to, believes in and promotes the agencys legal obligation to prefer Native American candidates for employment and promotion.
  • Adheres to, believes in and promotes the agencys sober lifestyle mission.
  • Develops HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the agencys strategic plan and overall objectives.
  • Works with the agencys executive management, establishes a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of NARA.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive compensation and benefit plans that are competitive and cost effective for the agency.
  • Works to develop employees by ensuring that employees are given appropriate feedback, training and opportunities for growth; provides overall leadership and guidance to HR by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, retention, training, leadership development, compensation and benefits.
  • Develops and ensures policies and procedures are in place and remain current.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and state requirements, conducts investigations, maintains records, and represents the organization at hearings.
  • Participates in preparing and adhering to annual budget.
  • Manages HR staff, conducts performance evaluations, staff development and coaching.
  • Reviews and conducts employee relation investigations and recommended outcomes.
  • Participates in and drives results through strategic performance improvement initiatives.
  • Monitors, maintains and reports on CARF accreditation standards.
  • Fosters a high-performing culture and drives employee engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

We would like to hear from people that have:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience in human resources management in an organization of comparable size and scope. Must include experience in multiple HR disciplines (compensation, benefits, labor/employee relations, HRIS, etc.).
  • High level competency with word processing, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to create presentations, reports and analytics.
  • Track record of strategically and tactically evaluating and implementing sophisticated HR programs and initiatives.
  • Ability to build consensus around HR strategy and tactics.
  • Ability to attract and retain talent and work with and motivate high performance teams.
  • Ability to bring immediate credibility to the HR function through professional qualifications and leadership skills.
  • Project the highest levels of integrity while winning through a consultative and embracing personality.
  • Superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills as well as proven organizational skills.
  • Expertise in the overall regulatory frameworks associated with HR functions, including benefit plans.
  • Ability to follow HIPAA policies to maintain the privacy and security of patient information.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, other NARA staff, team members, and treat everyone with respect and dignity at all times.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background and DMV checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SPHR/PHR/SHRM Certification.
  • Commitment to Native preference in hiring and promotion.
  • Experience working with the Native American/Alaska Native and recovery communities.
  • Demonstrated experience of HR leadership in a non-profit.
