The Virginia Home

Chief Development Officer

About The Virginia Home

The Virginia Home is a private, non-profit 130-bed facility that provides nursing, therapeutic and residential care. TVH’s mission is to provide compassionate and professional residential care to adult Virginians with irreversible physical disabilities, ensuring that their lifelong comfort and security will never be compromised, regardless of ability to pay. Residents require around-the-clock care due to debilitating conditions such as quadriplegia, brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy. One thing our residents do have in common is that they face life with courage and grace. Every day TVH strives to enhance the lives of people with physical disabilities by providing resident-centered care: health care, shelter, food, safety and adaptive equipment so residents might reach their highest potential and level of independence for a life of meaning and opportunity.

Founded in 1894, The Home is the only facility of its kind in Virginia and a unique model and pioneer in residential care for adults with disabilities. With an average age of 52, residents come from every region of the Commonwealth and represent diverse backgrounds.
