Nature of Work
The Program Officer & DEI Manager holds key organization-wide responsibilities to advance the Foundation’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and anti-racism, and strengthen the Foundation’s Trust-Based Philanthropic practices. In partnership with the Vice President, Directors, leadership, and committee, this person co-designs and executes DEI strategies in a manner that invites broad perspective and builds trust. This person also plays a key role in executing discretionary grantmaking processes, and planning and facilitating ongoing relationship-building and training opportunities for and with grantees.
Essential Job Duties
Work with the Foundation’s many constituencies (Board, grantees, donors, funders, partners, policy makers, staff and the general public) in a manner that builds trust, commitment and a shared mission.
Assist in ensuring DEI commitments are represented in and advanced through the
Foundation’s approach and practice (office environment, policies, procedures, etc.)
Stay informed about emerging and best practice in DEI, and co-design and facilitate training to engage staff, committee, and board in our shared, ongoing learning
Manage the DEI budget to achieve desired results.
Solicit and share external and internal input and feedback related to organization’s DEI practices, impact, and opportunities
Manage consistent interactions across staff to implement committee and departmental DEI commitments
Become familiar with and recommend changes to organization’s practices and process to further advance DEI, based on external and internal input and feedback
Where relevant, participate in selection and engagement of consultant(s) to further our efforts and impact.
Manage CFL’s competitive application processes and support CFL affiliate foundation’s grant processes, including use of online grant application software to manage receipt and review of applications, responding to questions from applicants, and planning/hosting grant information sessions
Assist in the preparation, facilitation and implementation of Foundation initiatives such as the Fund for Louisville grantees, Preston and Finzer Street Property, and artist professional development.
Draft grant agreements and ensure receipt of follow-up reports/reflection, as applicable
Translate efforts and outcomes into compelling messages and stories, and work to elevate visibility of the work both internally and externally, in partnership with Marketing & Communications team.
Present work to the Foundation’s Board and Committees.
Maintain understanding of current community needs and opportunities and represent the Foundation at meetings and events in community.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Excellent analytical, organizational, computer and problem solving skills.
Experience effectively working collaboratively with persons from diverse backgrounds.
Experience facilitating conversations among participants with varied perspectives.

Ability to travel throughout the region.
This position may require the ability to lift objects of at least 10 pounds in weight. Job duties require approximately 50% sitting/typing and 50% standing/walking. Physical requirements will vary depending upon the specific duties to be accomplished. Also, they must be able to travel throughout the region. In addition, it is a requirement of this position that the successful candidate be able to maintain a physical presence in the Louisville headquarters offices regularly and consistently and for the full regular work week. May regularly be required to attend evening or morning events on behalf of the Foundation.
The position is an administrative, full-time, exempt staff assignment and will be eligible to participate in the Foundation’s Employee Health and Benefits Plan as set forth in the
Foundation’s personnel policies. Compensation will be commensurate with skill level and experience.
