About the Role:Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBIX) is offering the opportunity to gain cross functional research, technology, and informatics experience in the world of biotechnology. Our intern program offers exposure to Enabling Technologies groups like Automation Engineering, Compound Management, and Screening. The Enabling Technologies team has a strong reputation in the industry for innovation in support of scientific teams.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):Assists the department by working with project teams to help identify deficiencies and increase project results
Assists with performing routine maintenance and quality control of automation equipment throughout Research
Assists in the development of new technology and new applications for research automation
Interacting with other departments within the company such as: medicinal chemistry, discovery biology and pharmacology, research informatics, operations, etc
Collaborating with a cross-functional team of mentors and the other interns in the class
Completing an engineering-related project and presenting the work to management. Examples would be developing, fabricating and validating components to be used by scientists or instruments in the lab or developing and validating new methods and procedures to improve a workflow
Pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering or related field
Strong academic performance
Familiarity with basic lab-based instrumentation or processes highly desirable
Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry desirable
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to think creatively, work collaboratively and leverage available resources in order to accomplish a goal
Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Interest in attending various program events, including social gatherings, career development workshops, and more
Ability to commit to a 10-week, full-time summer program
Lab Work Requirements: Part-time
