General Summary

The BY YOUR SIDE Director - Human Resources (HR) responsible for designing and executing hands on HR strategies to support the company’s objectives. This role involves managing payroll operations, leading HR initiatives and providing hands-on support across HR functions. The ideal candidate must thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and be adept at adjusting to continuous changes driven by the company’s innovative leadership. Proficiency in HR technology in payroll and IT platforms like, i.e., Paylocity, ZoHo and other systems, is essential. This role is responsible for developing HR strategies and programs that attract, retain, and develop a high-performing workforce, fostering an inclusive culture and ensuring legal compliance across all HR functions.

The Director - Human Resources employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The position is a full-time position, and hours of work and days vary based on the needs of clients/business. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as needed. This position will be based out of one of our Chicagoland Clinics, with 10% travel required.

Salary: $95k $105k Annually

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities include the following:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support organizational goals and foster operational excellence.
  • Advise executive leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, succession strategies, and retention initiatives.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement
  • Promote a workplace culture that values diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
  • Guide managers on employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Implement employee engagement programs to enhance retention and workplace satisfaction.
  • Oversee competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain top talent.
  • Partner with finance to manage the HR budget and ensure internal pay equity and external competitiveness.
  • Ensure HR policies comply with federal, state and local employment laws and are effectively communicated and upheld.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance reporting and audits.
  • Implement training programs to enhance leadership, compliance and employee skills.
  • Foster a continuous learning environment through career development and mentorship.
  • Head up and oversee payroll processes, collaborating with finance to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Develop and track HR metrics to evaluate department performance and inform leadership decisions. • Prepare HR reports to provide actionable insights into HR initiatives and trends.
  • Lead, mentor, and empower the HR team, promoting collaboration and high performance.
  • Supervise daily HR operations to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Support team development through regular feedback, coaching and growth opportunities.

 

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong focus on payroll and employee relations.
  • Expertise in HR systems, including payroll and IT platforms, compliance and data-driven decision-making. • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive and multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Proficient in using HR analytics to evaluate HR program effectiveness and drive strategic decisions.
  • Demonstrated capability to address complex issues with practical, solution-focused approaches.
  • High level of empathy, integrity, and ability to build relationships across diverse groups.
  • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and HR analytics.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel as required.
