Job Description Summary
The Director, Corporate Training & Business Development, will be a key member of a fast-paced, front-facing team that manages and administers both NC Edge Customized training and Contract training for Forsyth Technical Community College working closely with Greater Winston-Salem, Inc., and City/County Economic Developers, the Director promotes Forsyth Tech as a strategic business partner and premier provider of training resources. The Director is responsible for building and nurturing strong relationships with employer partners across Forsyth and surrounding counties and works in partnership with key community stakeholders to attract new businesses and retain existing ones within North Carolina. This position sources and develops robust relationships with training service providers, including Forsyth Tech faculty and staff. Additionally, this position manages a variety of budgets to support this department, such as the Productivity Enhancement funds and Administrative Allowance funds.

Education and/or Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.
  • Two or more years of experience administering corporate training programs.
  • Five or more years of experience leading workforce development programs
  • Excellent negotiation skills, proven track record of pitching for new business
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong technical competence, including experience with data analytics.
  • Capable of working a flexible schedule.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • CRM experience.
  • B2B sales experience.
  • Some marketing experience.
  • Experience in full e-Learning development process
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of WBT instructional design
Essential Duties
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Administration:
• Administer the Customized Training program including project profiles, and Productivity Enhancement funds.
• Develop and implement contract sales strategies
• Manage prospect/client database through CRM Program
• Build and develop relationships through the client life cycle: needs analysis, design, budgeting, staffing, scheduling, delivery, and evaluation.
• Maintain a professional network with local, regional, and state economic and industrial development agencies and educational institutions; utilize their services to promote the ongoing development of local companies; develop and sponsor cooperative programs.
• Manage program budgets and ensure that contracts, requisitions, and budget reports are accurate and completed according to policies and procedures.
• Administer a broad range of management, communication, and leadership courses for client companies
• Ensure that all courses/programs are conducted according to Forsyth Tech, North Carolina Community College System, and program policies.
• Provide support to the business and industry team; accept responsibility for other duties as assigned.
• Maintain awareness of current and emerging trends in primary areas of responsibility and guide the development and implementation of programs and services responsive to the needs of client companies and organizations in Forsyth and Stokes counties.
• Process, generate, verify, and/or complete all paperwork concerning classes.
• Generate reports as needed from Datatel system and other data collection software.
• Prepare requisitions for necessary supplies, textbooks, and materials
• Visit classes to ensure quality of service and compliance.
Supervision:
• Manage and develop direct reports
• Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate instructors and trainers.
• Ensure that instructors have the appropriate skills, certifications, and experience for their assigned duties.

Continuous Improvement and Team Work:
• Seek methods and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of customized training, course processing, and operational systems.
• Promote an attitude of teamwork with staff, instructors, students, and community representatives.
• Participate in team meetings, serve on committees, and utilize team meetings to contribute to the success of the college.
• Seek to maintain open, clear communication with all internal and external customers.
